Resident Evil

Raccoon Forest

Terror has struck a once peaceful city in America's midwest. It began with unconfirmed reports of hikers seeing beasts in the mountains. Soon, people started going missing. Those that were found, were found half-eaten. The gruesome deaths continued to escalate, and the population became convinced that it was not the result of mere wild animals. The Raccoon police department sent the elite S.T.A.R.S. teams to investigate the situation.

One team went missing.

They were later found by the other team, dead or dying in the grounds of a large mansion complex. The savage monsters turned out to be disfigured and rotting humans, driven to a blind rage of cannibalism. What had created these... zombies...? And why?

Resident Evil is the first in what has turned out to be an incredibly long-running series. Its endearing B-movie nature, complete with shlock horror scare scenes and wonderful acting (No! Don't go!), combine to raise it above the mindless bloodbath it could have become. It has everything: shambling zombies, buckets of claret, a spooky deserted mansion... but far from being just clichéd fluff, its numerous sequels have expanded the story to unbelievable heights.

It all began here, with a single night in a zombie-infested house.
